In memory of Matteo Sachman

Matteo Sachman

Matteo Sachman (Georgetown College Class of 2027) was a young man of deep faith, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to his community. When Matteo died in a tragic accident on January 1, 2024, he was 19 years old and had just finished a very rich first semester at Georgetown. He looked forward to participating in a Magis Immersion course during his time as a Hoya student. Magis courses invite students, through both classroom learning and experiential immersions, to explore the Georgetown values of academic excellence and cura personalis, care for the whole person. Matteo’s loving family has established The Matteo Sachman Magis Immersion Endowed Fund to support the Magis course Rome: The Matteo Sachman Theology of Pilgrimage Seminar, to honor Matteo and his core values, including those of caring, community, selflessness, and reflection. We invite you to join us in support of the fund, which ensures that students can participate in this meaningful journey of faith and self discovery for years to come, regardless of financial ability, in Matteo’s name.
